About

Hi! I'm SanguineChameleon, and this is my Sufficiently Large Serviette.

This place is for academic(-ish) topics that wouldn't otherwise fit on my personal blog.

Why this website?

The name is, of course, a riff on Evan Chen's Infinitely Large Napkin. However, unlike the Napkin, the Serviette is NOT self-contained, nor does it attempt to be. I unfortunately don't have the time (and, let's be honest, the willpower) to embark on such an endeavor.

Instead, the Serviette is exactly that: a convenient place where I can scrawl down notes about things I know, things I'm learning, and, well, things I don't know. There isn't really a sense of cohesion here. Expect a (somewhat) wide range of disciplines, mostly from STEM.

Now, I'm fully aware that there are already a lot of great resources available, online or otherwise. You can pretty much self-learn anything at any time. I'm certainly not trying to reinvent the wheel, and I don't exactly think this place holds any groundbreaking knowledge. However, what is original is how I convey the information. I am free to decide on the presentation, what to focus on or gloss over, and how rigorous or informal I want to be.

At the end of the day, like all the things I create and share, I do it for myself, perhaps for a younger version of me. In that sense, I hope you find the Serviette useful. 💗

Contribute

While I am, I guess, the captain of this ship, I greatly appreciate help from others! If you have a neat idea for a topic and you'd like to be a co-author, or even donate a guest article, just contact me on Discord at @sanguinechameleon. Alternatively, feel free to submit a pull request. Anything is welcome for consideration, from small error fixes to full-on rewrites. Again, I'm not trying to grow the Serviette into an encyclopedia, but it's always fun to learn something new, right?

The Serviette was made possible with Material for MkDocs, which made things way easier to bootstrap. Unfortunately, it does mean this website isn't as personalized as I'd like it to be, but I think it's a worthwhile trade-off. I'd rather focus on writing the technical stuff here, anyway.
